Ōkashō (Cherry Blossom Extract): Upon graduating from elementary school, Takaki Tōno and his close friend Akari Shinohara drifted apart. Akari moved to Tochigi Prefecture due to her parents' jobs, while Takaki attended a junior high in Tokyo. I absolutely love this one. Work of art. Period. The artwork is stunning, the story is just so sad... One of the few things I actually download and burn onto a dvd ^_^

Also it introduced me to Yamazaki Masayoshi. He's the guy who sings One more time, One more chance during the last part. I absolutely loved that and his other music is quite cool too Smile

Anyways, this short series is definitely worth your time, and so are his other works
Voices of a Distant Star (equally sad, if not even sadder then Byousoku) and the Place Promised in Our Early Days.

If you liked Byousoku, you should check these out for sure n,n

i liked it alot saw it previously on veoh

but i was a little confused at parts, i was watching it extremely late, i might not have taken it all in

but it was really sad.....in ways im not good at interpurting left open endings
but i really disliked the boy who always wanted more, though im pretty sure the only thing he really wanted was to be with that girl lol

i originally read it was supposed to be a 10 part movie or something like that
each part was a small story about common and sad everyday life stories
that all somehow tied around the main character

Why is there a need to be more? It was perfect like it is. I don't believe it teaches us anything about living now and all that. The lesson I took from this, is a rather harsh one.

Life goes on. Reality and time march on, without any regard for your wishes and dreams. Life will not always run the way you want or planned it to. You will be disappointed, you will get hurt, it's a part of life. They do not end up together, and it's the best ending for this collection possible.

This, really is one of Shinkai's best works. It's so true, that it really hurts deep down.
